Please read through the notes below and reach out to us if you have any questions regarding sizing for your specific binoculars.
Note that personal preference for how snug, or loose, the binoculars fit in the pack plays a big role for pack selection. The recommended sizes are based on optics protection, ease of access to the binoculars, published dimensions of the optics manufacturers, our experience, and the experience/feedback of our customers.
- Rangefinding Binoculars - most popular rangefinding binoculars that are 8-10x fit best in the Classic or Classic Max due to the thickness and design of the body of the optic.
- Roof Prism vs. Porro Prism - most popular binoculars produced today are roof prism binoculars. Our packs are designed specifically for roof prism binoculars. Some Porro Prism binoculars still fit in our packs, but almost all require the Denali due to their extreme width. If you are unsure which type you have, please refer to the image below, or contact us for assistance. We have had many customers that still use our packs with Porro Prism binoculars, but some require them to be placed in the Denali pack sideways to allow them to fit. The Denali, to our knowledge, is the largest binocular pack on the market today.
- Adjustable Height - the Kodiak Cub, Hybrid, Classic, and Denali all have adjustable lids due to the hook and bungee closure design. The height listed for each style has flexibility up to 3/4" if your optics are borderline too tall or if you run your binoculars with the eyecups extended, but this will make for a tighter fit.
- Measuring Your Binoculars - prior to measuring the length, width, and depth of your binoculars be sure to adjust them to the position you use them to fit your eyes, including extending the eyecups if that is how you run them in the field.
- LENGTH - distance from the eyecups of the binoculars to the objective lens end.
- WIDTH - distance from the widest edge of each objective lens to the other, or any spot on the optic that is wider than the end of the objective lenses.
- DEPTH - thickness of the binoculars at the largest location. It is best to measure this by laying your binoculars on a smooth surface and measuring from the surface to the highest point.
- Max Pocket Option - the Max pocket option is available on all models besides the Denali. This is an extra pocket at the bottom of the pack, but it does not increase the main compartment size that will hold your binoculars.
